Introduction to JJMMC
Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College, is one of the premier institutes established by Bapuji Educational Association, Davangere Karnataka, India. Bapuji Educational Association was established by a group of eminent Philanthropic people of Davangere whose main concern was the upliftment of education in and around Davangere, which is predominantly a rural town. Apart from JJM Medical College, the Association has established several educational institutions in the field of Dentistry, Engineering, Education, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, Arts and Science, Commerce, Primary and Secondary education.
JJM Medical College, Davangere was established in the year 1965 with consensus and permission of Government of Karnataka, Medical Council of India and Central Government. India is a densely populated country with over one billion population is predominantly in the rural areas. Nearly 70% of its population live in villages and the cities. The primary and the secondary healthcare system is not available readily to the public and health awareness and its improvement takes a sideline in the minds of the public. Hence, the institution was established with a desire to develop healthcare personnel and to cater to the health needs of the local people. The vision and constant efforts of its present Hon. Secretary Sri. Dr. Shamanur Shivashankarappa the association is at its zenith and made Davangere a Mecca of education.
The goals of the Institution are to provide:
- Comprehensive health care to a population of about 2 million.
- To train and develop a workforce of medical faculty and para-medical personnel to meet the increasing needs of these professionals.
- To improve the basic health amenities of the public.
Since its inception in 1965, JJM Medical College has tried and implemented the healthcare and medical education to attain the present status and fulfill the vision of its promoters. a) Eligibility:
i) Candidate should have obtained MBBS Degree from a MCI recognized institution.
ii) Candidate should have completed one year compulsory rotating internship after passing the final professional examination before 30th April of the Academic year.
Duration:
Degree Course: 36 Months
Diploma Course: 24 Months
Candidates who have passed Diploma examination in the same subject, when he/she takes up Degree Course in the same Subject . Course duration of study will be 24 months.

MBBS: Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery.
Duration: 4 ½ Years + One Year Compulsory Rotating Internship. Total Annual Intake: 245 The percent of seat sharing between Government of Karnataka and Management is in the ratio of 50:50 (Subject to Change).
Course of study Every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4 ½ academic years from the date of commencement of his/her study for the subject comprising a medical curriculum to the date of completion of the examination followed by one year compulsory rotating internship.
The 4 ½ years Course has been divided into three Phases.
- Phase I – One year consisting of two terms of six months each
- Phase II – One and half years consists of three terms of six months each
- Phase III – Consists of seven terms after Phase – I. It runs concurrently with Phase – II and during Phase – II Para-clinical and clinical subjects will be taught concurrently
