ELIGIBILITY
Age Limit (Management Quota)
              No candidate shall be admitted to the First YEAR of M.B.B.S Degree Course unless he/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of Admission to the Course.
NRI STUDENTS – AGE LIMIT
            Applicants For the admission under NRI Quota should not have completed 21 years of age on the 1st of July of the respective academic year.
QUALIFICATIONS:

NRI STUDENTS :
                 The Candidates must have pass in PHYSICS ,CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY and ENGLISH individually and obtain minimum 50% of marks taken together in Physics,Chemistry and biology in the qualifying examination.
MARKS :
      Candidates for admission to MBBS Degree Course must have obtained individual pass in English and the following percentage of Marks in Physics,Chemistry and Biology taken together in the qualifying examinations.

Based on the merit list prepared by the Tamil Nadu Self Financing Medical College Association.

10.Method of selection.

I.         Ranking will be made on the merit on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the SCIENCE SUBJECTS in the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks.

II.       Ranking of the candidate will be done based on the total marks obtained in Science Subjects after normalization of marks computed to the maximum of 200.

III.      In the case of Candidates who have furnished the mark sheets of the qualifying examination only in GRADES, the minimum marks of the grades alone will be  taken into consideration while determining the marks in the Science subjects of Physics ,Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology.

IV.       The marks obtained through different boards will be taken into account after normalization.

11.Method of Admission 

a. Admission will be made by member of institutions on the basis of the common rank list prepared by the association.

b. The selected candidates should produce all orginal documents at the time of admission.

c. All selections and admissions are provinsional. The selection is liable to be cancelled at any time as and when the eligibility conditions are found to be defective or incorrect or there has been suppression or mis representation of facts.

d. Preference will be given to the first choice opted by the candididates should contact the respective colleges.

e.After the publication of the merit list the candidates should contact the respective colleges.

Eligibility Certificate For Forgin Candidates

1. Candidates who have passed Advanced Level Qualification and Central Board of Secondary Examination in Foreign Countries has to remit a sum of Rs. 10,000/- towards the cost of application and Eligibility fee. The amount should be drawn in favour of  ” The Registrar, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University” payable at Chennai.

2. Candidates who have passed Advanced Level Qualification in foregin countries has to get Equivalency Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi equating their qualification to +2 qualification of the Central Board of Examinations / Board of Examination of the concerned state.

Candidates Seeking Admission Under NRI quota in self-financing colleges have to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines.

1. Candidate should be of Indian Origin settled in Foregin Countries.

(or)

Candidate of Indian Citizen stay abroad for employment, business.

(or)

Children of Indian citizens deputed abroad by Public Sector Undertaking.

(or)

Children of the Official of the Central / State Government on deputation abroad.

2. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

3. The candidates seeking admission under NRI Quota should have held Indian Passport.

4. The candidates seeking admission to MBBS course under NRI Quota should have passed H.Sc, Examination (10+2 Pattern/Equivalent).

5. The candidate should have obtained the minimum of 50% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together and a mainimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Chemistry.

6. The medium of instruction should be in English.

7. Admission under Non – Resident of India scheme may be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination as prescribed in clause 4 & 5 above.

8. The duration of the course will be 5 -1/2 years including one year CRRI for MBBS course.

9. The seats under NRI quota should be utilized by the bonafide NRI’s only and for their children or wards. There fore , the NRI financially supporting the candidate or legally declared as guardian of the candidate by the Court as per provisions in The Guardians and Wards Act 1890.

10. Candidates admitted under ‘NRI’ quota should submit the following documents:

a) NRI status of financial supporter issued by Indian Embassy of the respective country under their seal.

b) Certificate of relationship between the NRI financial supporter and the candidate issued by the competent authority, valid Indian Passport of the NRI financial supporter.

c) NRE (Non Resident External) Bank Account Pass Book of the financial supporter.

d) Evidence of the payment of the Development charges US $ 1000/-   to the college by the NRI financial supporter (One time payment at the time of admission only).

11. The candidate should furnish equivqlent marks for the grades awarded at the qualifying examination. If not , The minimum marks will be taken into consideration.

12. No NRI sponsored candidates are allowed under NRI scheme.

13. A sworn in affidavit on Rs 20/-   Non-Judicial Stamp Paper signed by the candidate stating that

He /She will not have any right to approach the court of law in case he/she was confirmed as a fraudulent student with bogus certificate etc.,

    The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) is one of the most well equipped departments with experienced faculty and instruments. Otorhinolaryngology, as it stands now, is not merely dependent on routine outdoor evaluation and conservative management as it used to be in the past. The department has adjusted well with the advancement of medical technology. With the advent of modern day telescopes, operating microscopes, the department now handles various ear-nose-throat and neck disorders efficiently and precisely. The department has state-of-the-art microscopes to perform micro ear surgeries. There are nasal and nasopharyngeal endoscopes for diagnostics and video endoscopy facilities for all types of endoscopic sinus surgeries. Microlaryngeal surgeries and voice-improving phonosurgery are also performed.

    The department offers a wide range of services covering all aspects of ENT.

    Otology

    Management of all ear diseases in adults and children including offering a wide range of surgical services like tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy,Myringotomy

    Management of CSF otorrhea and facial nerve paralysis are also addressed.

    Sialology

    We treat diseases of the salivary gland both medically and surgically. Surgeries include sialodochotomy, submandibular and parotid gland removal. Aesthetic parotidectomy is also being practiced.
    Laryngology

    Surgeries like thyroplasty and other microlaryngeal surgeries are routinely performed.  Surgeries for voice disorders are also routinely done.

    Paediatric Otolaryngology
    Foreign body removal, Endoscopic video assisted adenoidectomy, surgery for choanal atresia, congenital laryngeal problems like laryngomalacia

    Rhinology

    The department manages most of the rhinological diseases involving sinusitis and benign masses by nasal endoscopy.     Audiology and Speech Language pathology

    Audiology offers wide range of services including PTA (Pure Tone testing), OAE (Otoacoustic Emissions), BERA (Brainstem evoked response audiometry) Tympanometry and auditory rehabilitation. Speech therapy is also provided for patients who requires speech rehabilitation

    The teaching programme of the department of Ophthalmology gives the students, a broad comprehensive ophthalmology background, and opportunities to know more in all subspeciality areas such as refraction, glaucoma, retina etc.

    The Ophthalmology outpatient clinic provides general ophthalmic care including routine eye examinations, refraction, glaucoma screening, foreign body removal , gonioscopy etc., Sutureless cataract surgeries, phacoemulsification, oculoplasty, surgeries for squint, glaucoma and lacrimal sac are performed routinely.

    The department also runs speciality clinics for glaucoma, contact lens, paediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, retinal diseases and community ophthalmology.

    Periodic eye camps and mass screening programmes are carried out with local voluntary organizations.

    Radiology

    Apart from sophisticated digital X ray plant, high end ultrasound, computer tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging facilities are also available.
    Portable X ray, ultrasound and colour doppler units cater to the needs of the critically ill patients in the wards, trauma centres and intensive care units.
    Several interdepartmental and intradepartmental conferences are held. These include radiology department teaching conferences, neuropathology correlation conferences, neuromedicine and neurosurgery clinical conferences.

    Internal Medicine

    The department of Medicine caters to the medical problems through a busy outpatient service throughout the week. Medical students are trained to acquire basic clinical skills in medicine both through inpatients and outpatients.
    Inpatient services include 4 sophisticated intensive care units viz., Medical Intensive Care, Intensive Respiratory Care, Intensive Coronary Care and Intermediate Medical Care. Interns are trained to manage medical problems and perform procedures under supervision. The department also conducts special clinics such as Diabetic clinic and Geriatric clinic with emphasis on life style management.

    Psychiatry

    The  department offers treatment for all types of psychiatric and behavioral problems. It offers treatment for drug and alcohol addictions. Special emphasis is given for the use of psychological methods for treatment such as cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, child and adolescent counseling, marital counseling and family therapy.
    Psychiatric emergencies are attended to, on round-the-clock basis. Education of other clinical colleagues in handling sociopolitical issues is a special aspect of the department activity.

    Dermatology

    The department of Dermatology is engaged in teaching, research and patient care. Various facilities are available for both inpatient and outpatient care.

    Highly specialised services include, dermatosurgery in forms of cryosurgery, electrocautery, mesh grafting , chemical peeling and hair transplantation. Prick testing and patch testing are done, routinely. The department is upgraded as a post graduate training centre from 2014.

    Anaesthesiology

    The department is involved in evaluating patients for anaesthetic fitness, maintenance of the sophisticated operation theatre complex, and management of patients in critical care units, apart from academics.The faculty are involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of anaesthesia, intensive care, preoperative medicine (including acute pain management), chronic pain management, resuscitation, safety and quality in healthcare and related medico legal issues etc.
    They also indulge in training the paramedics for the CPR basic & advanced Cardiac life support. They are provided with a manikin where the above training can be implemented and practiced by the staff and students so that effective resuscitative measures can be addressed on receiving a patient in the casualty.

    Obstretics & Gynaecology

    The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has an important role in undergraduate and post graduate medical education and training. It is responsible for major clinical contribution to the women’s health services in the region.

    The Obstetrics division offers antenatal clinic on all days of the week and has a well equipped labour ward which offers routine and emergency services. CCTV is provided for academic purposes. Facilities for management of high risk pregnancies, continuous monitoring of both mother and baby, and intensive care of newborn are available. Painless labour is offered to patients who opt for it.

    Special clinics such as family planning clinic, dietary clinic, yoga clinic for prenatal women and weight reduction are conducted on a regular basis.

    The Gynaecology section has state-of-the-art diagnostic equipments including high end ultrasound machines , doppler, colposcope, hysteroscope etc and offers conventional as well as laparoscopic surgical facilities.

    Infertility clinic, cancer screening clinic and urogynaecology clinic add vigor to the department.

    Paediatrics

    Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and New born Intensive Care Unit with ventilator facilities are available. Emergency services are offered 24 hours a day. Adequate numbers of warmers, phototherapy units and incubators, together with facilities for central oxygen and suction, cater to common neonatal problems. Immunization, enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy and exchange transfusion services are provided.

    Orthopaedics

    There is a trauma team available round the clock with a full fledged multispeciality support. Special clinics exist for problems related to spine, paediatric orthopaedics and sports medicine. Total hip, knee and other major joint replacement surgeries, closed interlocking nailing, spinal stabilisation and microdisectomy are carried out. The department is ably augmented by a well – equipped Physiotherapy , Occupational therapy and Orthotic & Prosthetic units.

    Surgery

    Regular outpatient and inpatient services are supplemented by special clinic programmes like thyroid clinic, breast clinic and diabetic foot clinic addressing the patient needs more specifically and exhaustively. The surgery ward admits patients needing surgical intervention after appropriate screening.
    The students receive their clinical training in IP and OP care . Endoscopic investigations and treatment are carried out in indicated patients.Modern surgical intensive cares with monitoring facilities are available for managing postoperative and critically ill surgical patients.

    The operation theatre complex houses adequate equipments to suit all types of surgical procedures from repair of a hernia to head and neck cancer surgery and reconstruction. CCTV is available for the benefit of students for high standard of teaching. Laparoscopic surgeries are done routinely and provide less discomfort to the patient and an earlier discharge. The harmonic scalpel is used widely, to minimize blood loss.

    Dentistry

    The department of Dentistry (Sree Mookambika Institute Of Dental Sciences) offers outpatient, inpatient and, on calls services for dental emergencies. Periodontal treatment, conservative dentistry, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, oral surgery, preventative and community dentistry, and prosthodontic treatment are the key activities of this department for both IP/OP care patients.
