The medical college is having a deemed status as per the UGC Act 1957. The affiliated university is Sri Ramachandra University. Origin of College – With the initiation and untiring efforts of the industrialist Sri NPV Ramasamy Udyar, the first private medical institution in Tamil Nadu was born. Sri Ramachandhra Medical College was started in 1985 with the help of then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Bharat Ratna Late Sri MG Ramachandran. Admission in MBBS Course – For getting admission into MBBS course in SRMC, the students have to qualify NEET UG Entrance Test conducted by NTA. The selection of the students is done based on the ranks obtained in the NEET UG Entrance Examination.
Eligibility for MBBS Admission in Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute
The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary Certificate (H S C) examination or 10 plus 2 examination or 12th class examination or equivalent examination and obtained a minimum of 50% (SC/ST & Other Backward Classes (OBC) must have obtained a minimum of 40%) marks taking together Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) and a pass in English.
Age Limit – Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December in the year of admission. The date of birth mentioned in the HSC / CBSE / ISC Mark Sheet or in the Birth Certificate or Passport shall be taken into account for computing age of the student.
NEET entrance examination is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) and the candidates must have achieved not less than 50 percentile marks (SC/ST & OBC 40%) in the Entrance Examination. The entrance is generally conducted in the month of May every year.
