About NEET SS 2023 – Super Specialty Courses Entrance Examination
NEET SS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination, a single entrance examination to various DM and M.Ch. Courses as per the Indian Medical Council Act 2016.
Please note NEET SS is a single-window entrance examination for all Super Speciality DM and MCh courses in India. No other entrance examination, either at the state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to DM and M.Ch Courses as per the Indian Medical Council Act, 2016 w.e.f. 2023 admission session.
Scope of NEET SS (DM, M.Ch)
National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test Super Specialty (NEET SS) exam is a single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Super Specialty Courses. NEET SS is for admission to Super Specialty courses and will include the following
- All DM and MCh courses in the country including all Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country
- All DM and M.Ch courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

No state government /private medical college/universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh shall be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their Super Specialty DM and MCh Courses for the academic session 2023-24.
Qualifying Criteria and Validity
Candidates with the 50th percentile or above shall be declared as qualified in the NEET-SS exam within their respective specialties. NEET Result is valid for the current admission session only.

- A total of 100 questions will be asked in the exam.
- NEET SS will be conducted online.
- The first exam will be conducted for 1.45 hours while the duration of super speciality is 3.30 hrs.

Detailed Exam Pattern of NEET SS 2023
Let’s delve deeper into how the NEET SS exam will work in 2023. Here’s a clear breakdown:
- Two Parts: The exam is split into two main sections, known as Part A and Part B.
- Question Split: About 40% of the questions (that’s around 40 questions) will be based on the subjects you studied in your eligible feeder broad speciality course(s).
- Your Chosen Course: The other 60% of questions (roughly 60 questions) will focus on the super speciality course you chose when applying.
- Part A Details: Part A covers questions from only one broad speciality.
- Multiple Subjects in Part A: If your super speciality program relates to various feeder broad speciality courses, Part A will include questions from all the eligible feeder courses.
- Part B Content: Part B questions will be at a Post Graduate Exit level. It covers practical clinical topics and basic sciences that connect with your chosen super speciality.
- Time Breakdown: You’ll have 45 minutes for Part A and a bit more, 60 minutes, for Part B.

NEET SS 2023 Eligibility Criteria
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has prescribed the eligibility criteria for NEET SS 2023. Candidates who wish to apply for the entrance test are advised to go through the NEET SS 2023 eligibility criteria before filling out the application.
- Candidate must possess a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB/ Equivalent) from a recognised institution
- Candidates who complete their postgraduate degree on or before November 30, 2023, will be eligible for NEET SS 2023
- He/ she must be registered with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council
NEET SS 2023 For Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals who wish to pursue a super speciality course from India need to appear for the NEET SS 2023 examination and clear it. Such candidates do not need to be registered with the MCI/ SMC, provided he/ she is duly registered with the appropriate authority in his/ her own country.
On securing a seat through NEET SS, the MCI may grant temporary registration to these candidates for the duration of the postdoctoral course. This registration will be temporary and shall be limited to the medical college/ institution to which he/she is admitted.

NEET SS 2023 Admission Process

NEET SS 2023 Application Process
The application process for NEET SS 2023 starts with the release of the application form. Candidates have to register first by providing basic details such as name, date of birth, Email, mobile number to generate login credentials. Registration is mandatory to fill and submit NEET SS 2023 application form. Candidates must note that NBE will only accept online application form for NEET SS 2023 exam. Offline and and any other modes of applications will not be accepted for the exam. To complete the application process, candidates will have to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 4250.
NEET SS 2023 Admit Card
Candidates who complete the application process within the given deadline specified by NBE are issued the admit card for the NEET SS exam. NEET SS 2023 admit card will be uploaded online and candidates will have to log in to the accounts created during the registration process to download it. The admit card will be issued on the official website of NBE. The admit card contains personal details and crucial information such as exam date, timing, name of the centre and its address, and guidelines. Candidates can download the admit card for NEET SS 2023 till the last date of the exam. But they are advised to download the hall ticket for NEET SS 2023 in advance and check all details carefully to avoid any last-minute hassle.
NEET SS 2023 Exam Day Guidelines
- Candidates must report at least two hours prior to the commencement of the examination
- Candidates will have to undergo security checks, identity verification, image capture, and biometric verification
- Entry inside the examination hall will close 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the examination
- The following items are prohibited inside the examination hall
- Textual material, notes, pencil box, calculator, pen, eraser, etc.
- Mobile phone, earphones, Bluetooth, microphone, pager, etc.
- Ornaments like bracelets, rings, badge, brooch, etc.
- Bags, belt, wallet, goggles, etc.
- Eatables and beverages
NEET SS 2023 Pattern
NBE will release the NEET SS 2023 pattern along with the information brochure. The exam pattern comprises mode, medium, the total number of questions, marking scheme, and other important details regarding the exam. Candidates should know the pattern of NEET SS as it helps them to make better preparation for the exam.
As per the existing NEET SS exam pattern, the exam will be held in computer-based mode on September 29 and September 30. NEET SS 2023 question paper will comprise 100 questions, divided into two parts A & B. Candidates will be given total 3.5 hours to answer them. The exam paper will consist of questions from the General/Basic component of the primary feeder broad specialty subject and from all sub-specialty/systems/components of that primary feeder broad specialty subject. Questions were asked from the curriculum of the Post Graduate Exit level of the primary feeder broad specialty subject.
NEET SS 2023 Result
NEET SS 2023 result will be announced for those who appeared in the exam. The result for NEET SS 2023 will be released for various broad specialties on the official website of NBE. NEET SS 2022 result comprised the candidate’s roll number and the maximum marks scored by him/her. Candidates will have to visit the official website of NBE to check the result. These results will be handed over to the MCC, DGHS and MoHFW, the bodies responsible for NEET SS 2023 counselling. Candidates who will score 50th cut off percentile will be participating in NEET SS 2023 counselling process for seat allocation in 31 DM/MCh courses.
