UP NEET Counselling 2026: New Reservation Rule, 4 Colleges Excluded

The Uttar Pradesh Government has issued revised directions for the remaining UP NEET Counselling 2026 process. Future counselling rounds will follow the reservation provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Admission in Educational Institutions (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 2006.

The government has also decided to exclude four government medical colleges from Round 2 and subsequent counselling rounds until the Supreme Court decides the related matter.

Why the Reservation Rule Changed

The decision follows an order of the Allahabad High Court in a writ petition.

Earlier counselling guidelines provided for a special component reservation system. The government has now directed the counselling authority to restart the process using the reservation provisions prescribed under the Uttar Pradesh Reservation Act, 2006.
