Key Guidelines for Round 2
- Seat allotment will be based on the Round 2 merit list.
- Candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 1 do not need to deposit the security fee again.
- Candidates who joined Round 1 but wish to upgrade do not need to redeposit the security amount.
- Candidates who did not join their Round 1 seat or resigned during the Free Exit period also do not need to deposit the security fee again.
- Only candidates who paid the registration or security fee on time and completed online document verification will be eligible for choice filling.
- Vacant, not-reported and resigned seats from Round 1 will be displayed as Clear-cut Vacancy.
- A Seat Against Cancellation (SAC) option will also be displayed for virtual vacancies created when an admitted candidate is upgraded.
- Candidates can fill choices for government and private medical and dental colleges in order of preference.
- There is no limit on the number of choices that can be filled.
- Choice locking is mandatory.
- Candidates who do not lock their choices will not be included in the Round 2 allotment process.
- No changes will be allowed after choices are locked.
Clear-cut Vacancy and SAC Seats
During Round 2 choice filling, candidates will see two types of vacancies:
Clear-cut Vacancy
These are actual vacant seats created because of:
- Non-reporting by a Round 1 candidate.
- Resignation from a Round 1 seat.
- Withdrawal or cancellation of admission.
- Non-joining within the prescribed period.
Seat Against Cancellation
SAC seats are virtual vacancies. They may become available if an already-admitted Round 1 candidate receives an upgraded seat in Round 2.
Candidates should carefully check the seat type and course before selecting their preferences.
Rules for Upgradation and Seat Retention
If a candidate receives a new seat according to their Round 2 preferences, the previously allotted seat will be automatically vacated and made available to another candidate.
If no upgradation takes place, the candidate’s earlier seat will remain unchanged.
Candidates seeking upgradation should not repeat their previously allotted seat in the fresh choice list. If the earlier seat is allotted again, the candidate must report to the concerned nodal centre and complete the admission process afresh.
Security Deposit and Admission Rules
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 2 must complete admission within the prescribed period.
- Failure to join the Round 2 seat will result in forfeiture of the entire security deposit.
- Candidates may participate in Round 3 only after depositing the security amount again.
- A Round 1 candidate who receives an upgraded Round 2 seat but does not join it will also lose the entire security deposit.
- Candidates allotted government college seats must report to the respective medical or dental college, institution or university.
- Candidates allotted private college seats must report to the designated nodal centre.
- All candidates must complete the required medical examination at the college or nodal centre.
Fee Payment for Private College Admissions
Candidates allotted seats in private medical or dental colleges must pay the tuition fee through a CDS bank draft.
The draft must be payable to:
Director General, Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow
The fee must be submitted at the designated nodal centre. Failure to submit the prescribed tuition fee will lead to automatic cancellation of admission.
Candidates should check the latest fee structure and minority institution details on the official UP NEET UG counselling websites.
Choice Filling and Locking Process
Candidates eligible for Round 2 choice filling should:
- Visit the official UP NEET UG counselling portal.
- Log in using the registered credentials.
- Review the Clear-cut Vacancy and SAC seat options.
- Select government and private MBBS/BDS colleges.
- Arrange choices in order of preference.
- Review the complete list carefully.
- Lock the choices before the deadline.
- Download and preserve the choice-locking confirmation.
Once choices are locked, no modifications will be accepted. Candidates should therefore verify the college, course, quota and seat type before final submission.
Governing Rules
UP NEET UG 2026 counselling will be conducted according to:
