Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) is one of the oldest Medical School and research Institute located in Pondicherry, the capital of the Union Territory of Puducherry, in India. It was founded on 1st January 1823 and was later declared as an Institute of National Importance by the Indian Parliament in 2008. JIPMER offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty medical courses and also conducts research in various medical fields.

JIPMER Pondicherry currently has over 300 faculty members, over 700 resident physicians and over 800 nursing, administrative and support staff. It admits 249 undergraduate students and 200 postgraduate students annually.
