Established in 1983, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) is an autonomous engineering institute located in Pune, India. Affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, it achieved academic autonomy in 2008-09, making it the first private college in Maharashtra to gain this status. This autonomy allows VIT to include industry-oriented and cross-departmental subjects in its curriculum. It is also the only institute in Pune offering Honors and Minors courses alongside standard undergraduate programs, providing students with an edge in their education.
VIT Pune Entrance Exam Dates 2025-26
VIT Pune Institute does not conduct its entrance exam. Admissions to B.Tech programmes at the institute is based on the score acquired in MHCET or JEE Main – Paper 1. All aspirants must register and secure merit numbers through the DTE procedure.
VIT Pune Campus
The college has around 2,800 students, 225 faculty members, 67 laboratories, 1 central library, and 150 administrative and support staff. The campus spans 7 acres (28,000 m²) and includes four main academic buildings. On campus, there is a canteen, a Nescafe coffee outlet, a fruit juice and breakfast center, and a bakery that operates during college hours. The fully air-conditioned auditorium is equipped with ceiling fans. The student hostel is located off-campus, about 3.5 km from the academic area. It is a modern facility with a mess for students.
