St John’s Hospital Bangalore

St. John’s Medical College Hospital was established on December 8, 1975. It was designed to be the core of clinical training. This training is intended for students across medical, nursing, paraclinical, and allied health fields. These fields are affiliated with our institutes. The hospital aims to provide an academically rigorous professional education. It offers a holistic and comprehensive approach. This education is facilitated by our faculty who are also practicing physicians. Over the years, the hospital has expanded from a few hundred beds. It now has over 40 fully developed specialty and super specialty departments. By 2018, it grew to accommodate 2,000 beds. This growth made it one of the largest healthcare facilities under one roof in Bengaluru.

  • The 2007 Annual Patient Statistics Report (January to December) recorded a total of 5,03,274 outpatient visits. The daily average was 1,850 patients. During this period, 1,34,803 new outpatients were registered. Additionally, the total number of admissions was 46,609, averaging 148 admissions per day.
  • The hospital provides comprehensive in-house consultations across all specialties and super specialties. Both outpatient and inpatient facilities are well-equipped to deliver high-quality, affordable healthcare under one roof. State-of-the-art, accredited laboratory services support patient care. For targeted interventions and ongoing treatment, daycare facilities are available. As a major referral center, we offer extensive services across all specialties and super specialties.
  • The hospital’s emergency services are efficient and prompt. They feature a dedicated department that triages and manages all adult emergencies. This includes intensive care facilities for stabilization and transfer. A specialized pediatric and neonatal emergency unit, staffed by skilled teams, provides expert care around the clock. Both departments operate 24/7, ensuring continuous and comprehensive emergency care. The multidisciplinary approach of our hospital is particularly beneficial for managing polytrauma cases. Annually, approximately 54,000 patients receive care in the emergency department.
  • Critical care services encompass various specialized units. These include Adult Intensive Care with 35 beds. Coronary Care has 7 beds. Pediatric Intensive Care includes 13 beds. Neonatal Intensive Care has 35 beds. Collectively, they provide care for over 4,000 patients each year. Additionally, several super specialties have dedicated ICUs.
