Uttarakhand MBBS NRI Quota 2026-27: Schedule & Documents Released

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU), Dehradun has released the procedure and counselling schedule for admission to MBBS courses under the Foreign Indian Students (NRI) Quota in Private Universities of Uttarakhand for the session 2026-27.

As per Uttarakhand Government notifications, 15% seats in three private medical colleges have been earmarked for NRI candidates:

Basis of Admission

All admissions under the NRI Quota shall be based strictly on the merit of NEET-UG 2026.

Eligible Documents for NRI Status Verification

Eligibility will be ascertained based on:

  • Foreign Country Passport
  • Green Card / Permanent Resident Card
  • Proof of Residency of Foreign Country (issued by competent authority)
  • OCI/PIO Card (issued by Government of India)

Priority Order for NRI Quota Allotment

As per the government notifications, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Genuine NRI candidates originally belonging to Uttarakhand
  2. Children of NRIs originally belonging to Uttarakhand
  3. Genuine NRIs originally belonging to other Indian states/UTs
  4. Children of NRIs originally belonging to other Indian states/UTs
  5. Real siblings of the candidate
  6. First-degree relative NRI sponsor (residing abroad) – subject to conditions on blood relation, guardianship, and supporting evidence
  7. PIO/OCI candidates and eligible foreign nationals (after NRI list is exhausted)
  8. Any remaining vacant seats will be filled from the All India Quota

Note: Candidates admitted under NRI quota must execute a mandatory 3-year service bond for postings in Uttarakhand’s remote/hilly areas.

Important Notes

  • All admissions are based purely on NEET UG 2026 merit.
  • Candidates must report at the allotted college with all necessary documents as per schedule — no extension of time will be granted.
  • The State Government/Counselling Board reserves the right to modify the schedule.
  • Candidates are advised to regularly check www.hnbumu.ac.in for updates, as no separate communication will be sent.
