The NEET UG 2026 examination is scheduled for 3 May 2026, and the NEET UG 2026 Seat Matrix will be published on the MCC official portal before counselling begins. NEET UG is India’s premier medical entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BNYS, and BSMS courses in government and private colleges. Through NEET UG 2026, candidates can compete for 1,58,000+ MBBS and BDS seats available across medical institutions throughout India.

As per the latest MoHFW update, AIIMS and JIPMER admit students through NEET UG. Around 2,200 AIIMS MBBS seats and 243 JIPMER MBBS seats are filled based on NEET UG ranks.

NEET UG Seat Matrix 2026

  • Based on the result, NTA formulates NEET Merit List which is used by colleges to allot seats to students.
  • Each college releases its own category-wise cut-off separately.
  • The allocation of seats is done on the basis of their rank, score and cut offset defined by the participating institutes. The institute allotted will also depend on the choices filled by the candidates in their online NEET Counselling form.
  • For admission into UG courses in AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy), students must appear for NEET.
  • NEET Merit List will now be used to allot seats in veterinary colleges for undergraduate courses like BVSc. and Animal Husbandry under 15% All India Quota.
  • NEET Result will be applicable for admissions to all medical colleges of India.
  • Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will now participate in 15% All India Quota Counselling and don’t need to submit a self-declaration form anymore.

Counselling for 15% All India Quota

  • DGHS, Government of India, conducts the NEET UG 2026 All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling for 15% AIQ MBBS/BDS seats.
  • Deemed Universities, Central Universities, and participating State Universities take part in the online MCC AIQ counselling process.
  • The counselling also covers admissions to ESIC, AFMC, BHU, AMU, and other participating institutions.
  • Eligible candidates must register through the MCC/DGHS counselling portal to participate in 15% AIQ seat allotment.
  • Seat allotment is carried out online based on NEET UG rank, preferences, reservation policy, and seat availability.
  • Through AIQ Counselling, candidates can secure admission to medical and dental colleges across India.
  • Candidates participating in All India Quota Counselling are also eligible to apply for their respective State NEET UG counselling, subject to state eligibility rules.
